Tour India's trendy and historical tech hub

Bangalore is on the front lines as India forges a new path in the 21st century, and travelers on India tours will find it mixes the trendy lifestyle of a tech industry boomtown with the dignity of a historical city whose roots go back to the 9th century.

As the provincial capital of the southern province of Karnataka, many of Bangalore's signature buildings are devoted to government. The Vidhana Sudha, which houses the state legislative body, is a grand structure made from local granite and featuring multiple distinctive arches that allude to temple architecture. Another government building, the Attara Kacheri, is equally impressive though built in an entirely different style, made out of red brick in a colonnaded Greco-Roman design.

Another popular attraction, the Bangalore Fort, features graceful Islamic-style arches and encloses a famous temple to Ganesh. Across the street from the fort, the City Market is the place to mingle with the locals, especially during the early morning hours when the flower sellers set up shop.

At night, the city's young professionals flock to its many restaurants and clubs. The climate in Bangalore is famously temperate and easy to enjoy while sipping a cocktail at one of the many rooftop bars. Other hotspots lure revelers by more idiosyncratic means - for example, the servers at the bar NASA all wear space suits.
