EGYPT AND MIDDLE EAST TOURS
Qatzrin, in the land of oil and wine
Centrally located in the Golan Heights region, Qatzrin is a great stop for visitors to the Middle East to plan into their Israel tours.
The town itself, with its orange-tiled roofs and residential streets, is an easy place to wander for several hours. While the town today is home to an impressive winery, the city’s archaeological sites provide more than 2,000 years of historical background on the area. The ruins of ancient synagogues can be explored at Ancient Katzrin Park, and the Golan Archaeological Museum has relics dating back from a Chalcolithic settlement.
For those looking to hike throughout the area, the Field School prepares well-made maps of regional trails, and staff members are always helpful in recommending different routes to visitors.
Just outside of Qatzrin, the Golan Olive Oil Mill provides visitors with a look into the traditional trade of olive oil making. Housed inside the replica of an ancient synagogue, the mill provides travelers an in-depth look at their unique process of making olive oil, from harvesting to pressing. Producing some of the world’s most premier olive oil-based skin care products, Olea Essence products can be purchased on site.
