Hike, bike and sample wines along South Australia's Riesling Trail
The Riesling Trail is a popular destination for active travelers going on a tour of Australia, as the path combines enjoyable excursions with visits to some of the country's top wineries.
This 22-mile trail is located in Clare Valley, South Australia, and runs between the towns of Auburn and Clare. Originally laid out as part of a railway branch line, the Riesling Trail was converted into a hiking and biking path after a bushfire in 1983.
Tourists who are interested in outdoor activities can go for a lovely trek along the trail. Several shops in Auburn, Clare or any of the villages along the track rent bicycles to visitors, allowing them to explore the Riesling Trail for a minimal cost. As they walk or cycle down the path, travelers can enjoy spectacular views of South Australia's richest farms and vineyards.
After a long day of exercise, people visiting the Riesling Trail can drop into one of the many wineries situated along the path. Here, they can take tours of the fields where vintners grow their grapes. They can then cap off their day by sampling some of the best wines South Australia has to offer.
