Street vendors' cuisine often rivals Bangkok's top-notch restaurants in quality. Shop til you drop at Chatuchak

Shopaholics on Thailand tours should not miss the Chatuchak Weekend Market, the country’s largest market.

Held every Saturday and Sunday in Bangkok, the Chatuchak Weekend Market is a fashionista’s paradise. More than 5,000 stalls sell stylish clothing and accessories, including modern and antique jewelry. While guests may be hesitant to purchase some items, travelers must remember that bartering with vendors is expected, and many visitors will walk away buying an item for around half of its labeled price.

Another of Chatuchak’s specialties is authentic Thai cuisine. Given their own section of the market, food vendors often only sell one item, which typically means that their recipe has been perfected. Guests looking for a gastronomic adventure will find the market provides cuisine that rivals Bangkok’s top restaurants in quality.

One thing that guests should be aware of if is the fact that the market often sells endangered species from foreign countries. While the turtle shells may be striking and the songbird voices quite delightful, visitors to the market should be wary of bringing any new pet into their life that is purchased at Chatuchak.
