Day 1
Yosemite National Park Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. Upon entering you will receive a Park map and the, ever so valuable, Yosemite Guide which contains information about all Park activities, scheduled events, and hours of operations for the different facilities and services. Includes daily car rental. After checking into Camp Curry, you may want to get a jump start on getting to know the area and all activities and facilities available during your stay. The Valley Visitor center is a good place to start your visit. Park information, orientation programs, exhibits, and books are available there, as well as shops, the Yosemite Museum and the Indian Village. There are a few things to remember while at the Park; always take bottled water with you, never disturb the wildlife, and get an early start every morning since most activities are enjoyed during daylight hours. Also, photo opportunities abound, so don’t forget your camera and have it ready to shoot at all times! Curry Village sits in an ideal wooded area in Yosemite Valley directly beneath Glacier Point, next to Merced River with the magnificent views of Half Dome and a short walk from Mirror Lake and Yosemite Falls. It was founded in 1899 as a rustic, inexpensive lodging option and is also known as "Camp Curry". The canvas tent cabins do not have plumbing, telephone or television. Restrooms and showers are within walking distance. Maid service and cooking facilities are not available. The staff will refresh the towels and empty the trash as needed. Curry Village guest services include the Curry Village Dining Pavilion, a swimming pool and gift shop. Overnight at Curry Village (Camping) (B) (Tent Cabin). |
