Day 1
Charleston Charleston is a seaport city in the state of South Carolina. Its historic downtown is located on a peninsula formed by two rivers, Ashley and Cooper, flowing into the Atlantic, and protected from the open ocean by surrounding islands. Charleston's historic downtown has buildings that are hundreds of years old. The current skyline, with practically no tall buildings due to the city's height restriction ordinance, is dominated by church steeples and the stunning Arthur Ravenel cable-stay bridge completed in 2005 over the Cooper River. The city is a major port on the eastern seaboard of the US and a popular destination for domestic and international tourists. You will be provided with a pre-departure package which will include all necessary information that you will need for your trip including materials such as vouchers, maps, train tickets (if relevant) etc. Enjoy a private airport transfer with professional driver. Enjoy a shuttle pick up from your centrally located hotel to enjoy your shared Middleton Place tour. A National Historic Landmark, Middleton Place is a carefully preserved 18th-century plantation that has survived revolution, Civil War, and earthquake. During the Guided House Tour you'll view the former home of four important generations of Middletons. One Middleton signed the Declaration of Independence, putting the country together; another signed the Ordinance of Secession tearing the country apart. Stroll the formal gardens and visit the stable yards during your self-guided tour time at the plantation. Enjoy lunch at Middleton Place's famous restaurant (not included in the tour price).
