Itinerary

Day 1 Warsaw

Warsaw (Poland’s capital and largest city), was almost completely destroyed during World War II. Following massive and painstaking reconstruction, Warsaw’s Old Town (Stare Miasto) on the west bank was authentically reconstructed from original plans and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Among the most notable landmarks of the Old Town are the Royal Castle, King Zygmunt's Column, Market Square, and the Barbican. The Polish capital plays an important role in the country’s cultural life, and now features over 20 museums. One of the best is the Warsaw Historical Museum, which traces Warsaw’s history and shows films shot by the Nazis showing their systematic destruction of the city. In 2004,

Day 2 Warsaw

Take a tour following Chopin. Drive to Zelazowa Wola, a village 50 km from Warsaw, where Fryderyk Chopin was born in 1810, in a small manor house on the River Utrata. This Polish country house of the gentry has a cosy museum, hosting numerous mementoes of Chopin and a lovely park. Visitors to the manor park can listen to a concert of the brilliant composer’s music. On your way back to Warsaw, enjoy the scenery of the Masovian countryside and stop in Brochow, with its 16th century parish church witnessed Chopin’s childhood.

Enjoy a private tour of Royal Lazienki Palace and Park, one of the most beautiful palace and park complexes in Europe. The park was founded at the initiative of King Stanislaw August Poniatowski in 1774, initially in the French style, and then rearranged in the English style. Within the park is the Palace on the Island, also known as the Palace on the Water. This was originally a Baroque magnate’s pavilion built by Tylman van Gameren, and from 1766 the royal summer residence, one of the most beautiful and most valuable examples of classical architecture in Poland. The palace has two storeys and magnificent interiors: the most impressive are the White Room, the portrait room, and the dining room. The palace, stripped, ruined, and prepared for blowing up after the Warsaw Uprising of 1944, was rebuilt and restored after the war. Other buildings include the Theatre on the Island, the Old Orangery, and the Belvedere. A monument to Chopin stands in Lazienki Park as well, where summer concerts of the great composer’s music are held.

Experience a piano recital performed by top Polish pianists at the Palace on Water or Myslewicki Palace - both located in Lazienki Park.
