Enjoy a great multi-Active family escape into the Pyrenees montain range. Base yourselves in the quaint town of Puigcerda, located in Spain and right beside the French border. Spend your days exploring with your English speaking guide, having fun in the mountains hiking, then discovering the small towns and open spaces by bike before trying out some climbing and caving - both of which are great to do in this area! Itinerary

Day 1 Puigcerda

Puigcerda is the capital of the Catalan comarca of Cerdagne, in the Girone province, in Catalonia, Spain, located at 1,202 metres above the sea, by the river Segre, right by the border with France. It was founded in 1177 by King Alfonso I of Aragon, Count of Barcelona. In 1178 it replaced Hix as the capital of Cerdanya. Hix is now a village in the commune of Bourg-Madame, in the French part of Cerdagne. Puigcerda was unique during the Spanish Civil War in having a democratically elected Anarchist council.

Wander around the pretty mountain town of Puigcerda. With its pedestrianised centre, it is perfect for doing some window shopping and browsing from store to store. There are many bars and restaurants in the town if you feel like stopping for a bite to eat or simply relaxing and watching the world go by as you have a beer on one of the outdoor cafes.

Hotel del Lago (3*) is a SPA-HOTEL situated very close to the lake, just 100 metres from the centre of Puigcerdà, where there are many restaurants and lots of shops. In the centre of the Pyrenees, Hotel del Lago is the ideal place for a restorative trip to the mountains. Relax and recover with the treatments and facilities offered in the spa. There are a dozen ski stations in the Cerdanya and après-ski is very lively in the area. During the summer months, the wonderful landscapes of the area are popular among lovers of trekking and excursions, with stunning mountains and lakes. All rooms have TV, minibar, direct telephone, WI-FI internet connection, and full bathroom with hairdryer. The Hotel del Lago appears as an oasis in the centre of Puigcerda, surrounded by ample gardens so that you can enjoy total relaxation.

Day 2 Puigcerda

Enjoy a full day in the mountains as you hike through lush countryside in the company of an English speaking Guide. There are multiple levels of difficulty of terrain to choose from. For flat, easy walking the areas such as Serra del Cadí, Meranges, and the valleys of Llosa, Camcardós, Boullousses and Lanós are recommended. For ascents to the peaks characteristic of the Cerdanya, Berguedà, Capcir and Rossello along low difficulty routes with hills would include hikes in the areas of Puigmal, Canigo, Pedraforca, Puigpedrós or Tosa Plana de Lles. Day 3 Puigcerda

Enjoy a full day exploring the area by bike! In the company of a guide, you will see the countryside by one of the best mosdes of transport - by bike! There are plenty of options to choose from in terms of routes, depending on individual level of fitness and how strenuous or easy you woudl like your bike route to be. Please speak with your kensington Tours Sales Advisor to confirm what kind of a bike ride you would like to do today.

Day 4 Puigcerda

Spend the day seeing the countryside from a differentperspective! In the company of your Guide, you will get to try out the sport that is rock climbing. Then head to a great spot to dosome caving for the afternoon. A taxi can easily be arranged from your hotel. Day 5 Puigcerda

Trip Terms & Conditions

  • Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
  • Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
  • Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
  • Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
  • Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
