Itinerary

Day 1 Athens

Athens, the capital of Greece is named after Athena, the goddess of wisdom, who, according to legend, won the city after defeating Poseidon in a duel. The goddess' victory was celebrated by the construction of a temple on the Acropolis, the site of the city's earliest settlement in Attica. As a city state, the coastal capital of Athens reached its heyday in the fifth century BC as a centre for the arts, learning and philosophy, home of Plato’s Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum. Athens is also the birthplace of Socrates, Pericles, Sophocles and its many other prominent philosophers, writers and politicians of the ancient world. Nowadays, the city retains a vast variety of Roman and Byzantine monuments, as well as a smaller number of remaining Ottoman monuments projecting the city's long history across the centuries.

The Royal Olympic Palace (5*) in Athens features an impressive architecture and design, and is situated right in front of the Temple of Zeus, just a few steps from the Acropolis, the Plaka (Old Town) and the shopping district. The wonderful mirrored facade beautifully reflects the ancient ruins, while the elegant entrance, with its statues and paintings, offers guests a warm and hearty welcome. The hotel features functional banqueting rooms, as well as two bars and two restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, sauna and hairdresser. The Royal Olympic Hotel also provides complimentary Wi-Fi Internet connection throughout the property, a jewelery and souvenir shop.

Welcome aboard!
Meet your yacht's crew and take some time to get settled into your cabin as you'll be setting sail shortly.

Spetses is an island of Greece, first occupied around 8000 BC. It is sometimes included as one of the Saronic Islands. In the first half ot the 1800's, the island played a large role in the Greek War of Independence from the Turks. The town of Spetses is the only large settlement on the island. In the 1960s and 1970s, the island attracted a number wealthy Greek vacationers from Athens and elsewhere, owning villas or living on large yachts in the port. Since package tours were actively discouraged by the island as of the early 1990s, the island's holiday clientele remains more upmarket and largely Greek.

The M/Y Alexandros II is a Greek luxury yacht with a sporty and vibrant appearance, and a cruising speed of 28 knots. The vessel is available for exclusive charters, and can accommodate up to 8 guests total in one master cabin, one V.I.P cabin and two twin cabins. Cruise the Mediterranean in a vessel more easily maneuvered to explore the beautiful coastlines than large cruiseliners.

Hydra is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece, located in the Aegean Sea between the Saronic Gulf and the Argolic Gulf. It is separated from the Peloponnese by narrow strip of water. In ancient times, the island was known as Hydrea, which was a reference to the springs on the island. There is one main town, known simply as "Hydra port" which consists of a crescent-shaped harbor, around which is centered a strand of restaurants, shops, markets, and galleries that cater to tourists and locals (Hydriots). Steep stone streets lead up and outwards from the harbor area. Most of the local residences, as well as the hostelries on the island are located on these streets.

Poros is a small Greek island-pair in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf, at a distance about 31 nautical miles south from Piraeus and separated from the Peloponnese by a 200-metre wide sea channel, with the town of Galatas on the mainland across the strait. Poros consists of two islands: Sphairia, the southern part, which is of volcanic origin, where today's city is located, and Kalaureia, the northern and largest part. A bridge connects the two islands over a narrow isthmus. The town of Poros, with its neoclassical edifices, is built amphitheatrically on the slopes of a hill. Its most famous landmark is a clock tower, built in 1927.

Aegina is one of the Saronic Islands of Greece in the Saronic Gulf, 17 miles (27 km) from Athens. Tradition derives the name from Aegina, the mother of Aeacus, who was born in and ruled the island. During ancient times, Aegina was a rival to Athens, the great sea power of the era. An extinct volcano constitutes two thirds of Aegina. The northern and western side consist of stony but fertile plains, which are well cultivated and produce luxuriant crops of grain, with some cotton, vines, almonds, olives and figs. The southern volcanic part of the island is rugged and mountainous, and largely barren. The beaches are also a popular tourist attraction.
