Day 1
Marigot Marigot is the main town and capital on the French side of the Caribbean island of Saint Martin. Originally a fishing village on a swamp for which it was named, Marigot was made capital during the reign of King Louis XVI, who built Fort St. Louis on a hill near Marigot Bay. Marigot is typical of Caribbean towns, with gingerbread houses and sidewalk bistros. Market days are every Wednesday and Saturday morning, where one can find everything from coconuts, avocados, sweet potatoes and plenty of other tropical fruits and vegetables, all kinds of spices and fresh fish, to fine batik wraps, local arts, crafts and paintings. This includes hi-speed internet, a safe, a gas BBQ, electric gate, a dvd library and an air conditioned gym with treadmill, elliptical machine, free weights, excercise ball and TV/DVD player. Your villa is centrally located with the nearest beach being a 15 minute walk away, while the nearest grocery, restaurant and airport are all 15 minute drive away. Please note that there is a refundable $1,000USD damage deposit required which will be taken on final payment of your trip. Throughout your villa stay, you'll have the services of a housekeeper (6 days/week not inlcuding Sunday or public holidays) as well as a gardener and a pool person for six days. Upon arrival at Princess Juliana Airport , you will be met by a representative who will assist you with your car rental collection and escort you to your villa. The first meet and greet and escort service is offered on a complimentary basis. They will then transfer you and your party to your villa. Your rental vehicle will have been delivered to the villa in time for your arrival and a member of staff from the rental company will return to the villa once you have arrived to complete the paperwork with you. Set in beautiful gardens, this villa has a plunge pool and terrace, rooftop sundeck and flowered courtyard. Day 2
Marigot St. Maarten is the only Caribbean island with 100 percent duty-free shopping. In Philipsburg, more than 500 stores sell luxury items like leather goods, electronics, cameras, designer clothes, watches and jewelry at 25 to 50 percent discounts. Marigot, on the French side, offers similar discounts on perfume, china, crystal, jewelry and clothes. You will see the beautiful architecture and and feel the warmth and kindess of the local population as you pass bye. Overlooking Marigot Bay on the leeward side of the island sits the imposing figure of Fort St. Louis, the largest historical monument in St.Martin. Named for the famous crusading king of France, it was originally built in 1767 to protect the settlement at Marigot from foreign invaders. Take some time to yourself and head to the Orient Beach. There is lots to do there for some free time. Have a Kiteboarding Lesson or snorkel right from the beach. There are a number of vendors on the beach in which you can rent from. Day 3
Marigot Take a trip into the bustle port town of Marigot and visit the popular Fort St. Louis where you can see and feel the history of this Caribbean port of call. Also, you can head north 15 minutes by car and visit the the beach at Grand Case near the northern tip of the island which shelters a little fishing village that is famous not only for its fine foods but also for its distinctive style of architecture. Elaborate carvings and fretwork, in what is called a gingerbread style, adorn the fronts of the small wooden houses painted in pastel colors, and the effect is truly charming. Some of the island's best restaurants also happen to be located in this area, including local dishes at barbecue stands called Lolo's and souvenir shops. Nothing says a fun like Parasailing trip – Head to Bobby’s Marina in Philipsburg on the Dutch side of the island and go Parasailing. This is a great spot to enjoy this activity as the views from above are spectacular. Take a chance at either 400, 600 or maybe the top height of 800 ft off the water. Overnight at Mongoose Run . |
