The former Netherlands Antilles, now called the Kingdom of Netherlands, includes the islands of Bonaire and Curaçao, just off the Venezuelan coast. And the distant trio of Saba, Saint Eustatius, and Saint Maarten located southeast of the Virgin Islands. The islands form an autonomous part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The capitol city of Willemstad on the island of Curacao is a UNESCO site, and a popular tourist destination. The Dutch government provides substantial development aid and as a result the islands have a well developed infrastructure and high income compared to other countries in the region.
