Day 1
Chiang Mai Chiang Mai in the far north is Thailand's second-largest city and a center for excursions to the region's ancient and beautiful temples, the teak forests and their working elephants, caves and waterfalls, and journeys to visit the northern hill tribes. The main attractions are the Doi Suthep temple and elephant trekking. Doi Suthep is one of the most famous temples in northern Thailand. Perched high on a hilltop, it offers fine views over the city on clear days. The trip up can either be made via a funicular or a grand staircase with 400 steps. The banisters alone are worth a visit: a giant green-and-red glazed serpent winds its way down to end in a magnificent dragon's head. Arrival in Chiang Mai, transfer to hotel, motorcycle handover, kickoff meeting and welcome dinner. Prince Khum Phaya Resort and Spa is located in Lanna (Northern-Thai). Day 2
Thaton Thaton is a subdistrict of Mae Ai district in the far north of Chiang Mai Province in Thailand. The town is situated on the Kok River near the border with Myanmar, about a 3-hour drive north of the city of Chiang Mai. Thaton is located on the widely travelled tourist route, and is a tropical wet and dry or savanna climate. Temperatures range from a low of 19°C to a high of over 40°C. Start your day with a drive to Thaton. The route is mostly small, twisty with challenging mountain roads. During the ride, visit of an Elephant Camp in the morning. The motorcycle rent charge includes: Deposit of $5000 need to be guaranteed with a credit card. According to insurance conditions, renter is responsible for all damage up to the deposit amount. Additional damages will only be covered by insurance if the rider is not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and has not broken the traffic regulations, otherwise renter has a full responsibility for motorcycle damage and recovery. The Maekok River Village Resort is idyllically located on the banks of the Mae Kok River with sweeping views across the valley to the distance forested mountains. Day 3
Chiang Khong Chiang Khong is a district in the northeastern part of Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand. With its poor soils, is not favoured agriculturally. The region consists mainly of the dry Khorat Plateau which in some parts is extremely flat, and a few low but rugged and rocky hills. The short monsoon season brings heavy flooding in the river valleys. Unlike the more fertile areas of Thailand, the Northeast has a long dry season, and much of the land is covered by sparse grasses. Temperatures range from 19°C to over 40°C. Start your day with a transfer to Chaing Khong, located 150 miles from Thaton. The route is small, with steep mountain roads, backcountry roads and sweepers. The Highlights of the day will be a visit of Akha hill tribe village (if time allows), visit of Doi Tung Royal Palace or Mae Sai with possible border crossing (walking) to Tachilek in Myanmar. Other optional excursions which you may choose are Hall of Opium Museum or Golden Triangle viewpoint (Thailand, Laos, Myanmar). The Namkhong Riverside Hotel is located in Chiang Khong City Center. Day 4
Nan Nan is a city in Northern Thailand. It is located some 668 km north of Bangkok. Its population exceeds 24.000. It is situated in the centre of the province which bears its name, and of which it is the administrative capital. It covers the whole tambon Nai Wiang of Mueang Nan district, an area of 5.40 km². As of 2005 it had a population of 20,413. It is subdivided into 26 chumchon. It is spread out along the Nan river's right bank. Nan is a small city, primarily devoted to commercial, administrative, educational and hospital activities, but it has considerable charm. The old heart of the city, where Wat Phumin, the National Museum and other tourist attractions are located, is being restored attractively. Drive to Nan today for 190 miles. The Route features small roads, hills and mountains as well as altitude differences. Highlights of the day are stunning scenery with Phu Chi Fa viewpoint at 5000 ft with view to Laos and walk through Nan city center with its many temples. Sukothai The Sukhothai kingdom was an early kingdom in the area around the city Sukhothai, in north central Thailand. It existed from 1238 till 1438. The old capital, now 12 km outside of New Sukhothai in Tambon Mueang Kao, is in ruins and is a historical park. This morning leaves Nan for Sukhothai, located 180 miles away. The Route includes small mountain roads and bigger roads through flat rural region along ricefields. Day 6
Sukothai Enjoy a day at leisure. Visit the Historical Park a World Heritage Site or simply relax in the afternoon. Sukhothai was the first capital of old Siam. The country of Sukhothai used to be a very good country. "The person who wants to trade with horses, can do so. The person who wants to trade with silver or gold, can do so. The people are satisfied". The King Ramkhamhaeng is freedom and respect, and he is still today honoured as a great King among his people. Day 7
Mae Sariang Mae Sariang is a small town and district alongside the Yuam River in Mae Hong Son Province, northern Thailand, along the Myanmar border. Much of Northern Thailand is mountainous, making the temperature cooler compared to Central Thailand. In the morning drive on the highway . The landscape includes wide sweepers in hilly regions and twisty mountain road in the afternoon. The Highlights of the tour are Mae Sot border town to Myanmar with ethnic mixture or a scenic ride along border to Myanmar and Karen hill tribe villages. Mae Hong Son Mae Hong Son is one of the northern provinces (changwat) of Thailand, and at the same time the westernmost. Neighboring provinces are (from north clockwise) Shan State of Myanmar, Chiang Mai and Tak. To the west it borders Kayin State and Kayah State of Myanmar again. It was formerly called Mae Rong Son (also Maerongson, Mae Rong Sorn or Maerongsorn). Mae Hong Son (The City of Three Mists) is nestled in a deep valley hemmed in by high mountain ranges, Mae Hong Son has long been isolated from the outside world. It is the most mountainous province in Thailand and composed of a total of 13, 814 square kilometers. It is virtually covered with mist throughout the year, the name refers to the fact that this terrain is highly suitable for the training of elephants. Former governors of Chiang Mai used to organize the rounding up of wild elephants which were then trained before being sent to the capital for work. Today, Mae Hong Son is one of the "dream destination" for visitors. Daily flights into its small airport bring growing numbers of tourists, attracted by the natural scenery, numerous hill-tribe communities and soft adventure opportunities. Pai Pai is a small town in northern Thailand near the Myanmar border, north of Chiang Mai on the northern route to Mae Hong Son. It lies along the Pai River. The town has the saban tambon status and covers parts of the tambon Wiang Tai of Pai district. The highlight of the day is a the Shan village with guided visit of Lot Cave on rafts. Once arrived in Pai, visit the downtown and experience how local people live. Spend your day at leisure. For Optional activities, we suggest a visit of “Long Neck – women” village by bike and longtail boat or a visit of Mae Hong Son downtown. The afternoon is at leisure. Pai Today is your last day of the tour before you return home. The highlights of the tour include a visit of Chinese Yunnan village. - Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary.
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations 90 days or more prior to departure will be subject to loss of the deposit. 60-89 days will be subject to loss of 50%. 0-59 days will be subject to loss of 100% of program price.
