Day 1
Tokyo Tokyo is located on the eastern side of the main island Honshu, and is the capital of Japan. The name "Tokyo" literally means eastern capital. It is the seat of the Japanese government, the Imperial Palace, and the home of the Japanese Imperial Family. The twenty-three special wards of Tokyo, have a total population of over 8 million people, with 35 million in the greater Tokyo area. The city has many museums and theatres, important temples, parks and restaurants. It is one of the world's leading cities - and one of the most expensive. Day 2
Tokyo On this private-guided tour you will visit the Imperial Palace Plaza, which is main residence of the Emperor of Japan. You will also visit the Meiji Jingu Shrine, a Shinto shrine that sits in a 175 acre forest. Completed in 1926 the shrine is dedicated to the deified spirits of the Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shoken. You tour will then proceed to the Buddhist Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa. This temple, dedicated to the Goddess of Mercy, is the oldest temple in Japan and is one of its most significant. Day 3
Tokyo On this guided tour you will explore Nikko with a private vehicle and guide. Your tour will begin with a visit to the Tosho-gu Shinto Shrine. Five of the structures at Nikko Tosho-gu are categorized as National Treasures of Japan, and three more as Important Cultural Properties. Additionally, two swords in the possession of the shrine are National Treasures, and numerous other objects are Important Cultural Properties. Today’s tour will also showcase the natural beauty of the Nikko area. Visit scenic Lake Chuzenji and Kegon Waterfall, as well as numerous hot springs before heading back to your hotel in Tokyo. Day 5
Hakone Hakone, part of a magnificent national park and gateway to Japan's illustrious Mt. Fuji. Fuji-san, as it's known in Japanese, stands 3776m high and dominates the region southwest of Tokyo. Hakone is probably the most famous spot for Fuji viewing, allowing a glimpse of that picture-postcard perfect volcanic cone. Day 6
Kyoto Kyotois a city in the central part of the island of Honsh?, Japan. Formerly the imperial capital, it is now the capital of Kyoto Prefecture. With its 2000 Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines, as well as palaces, gardens and architecture intact, it is one of the best preserved cities in Japan. Three special sites have connections to the imperial family: the Kyoto Gyoen area including the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Sento Imperial Palace, homes of the Emperors of Japan for many centuries; Katsura Imperial Villa, one of the nation's finest architectural treasures; and Shugaku-in Imperial Villa, one of its best Japanese gardens. Day 7
Kyoto Today visit magical Nara with an experienced private guide. Visit the Todaiji Temple renowned for its Hall of the Great Buddha, the largest wooden building in the world, and houses the world's largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana. The temple also serves as the Japanese headquarters of the Kegon school of Buddhism. You will continue the tour to see the famous Deer Park where deer roam free in the park and oftentimes along the walkways and streets nearby. You will also stop at Kasuga Shrine and see thousands of impressive lanterns and Horyuji Temple, the oldest remaining temple in Japan, originally built in 607. Trip Terms & Conditions
- Your deposit is due immediately on booking (30% of program price, minimum $250). The balance is due 90 days prior to departure. We accept payment via credit card, certified check, wire transfer or money order.
- Tour quotes do not include airfare to/from the trip start point unless noted on the itinerary
- Cost increases in currency exchange, government fees, taxes, surcharges or hotel/lodge tariff increases between quote date and start date are payable by the client.
- Availability cannot be guaranteed until booked. We will exercise best efforts to book hotels per the itinerary, however, in busy seasons and with client bookings made within 90 days of tour date we may be forced to offer substitutes.
- Cancellations of confirmed bookings 90 days or more prior to departure will receive full refund minus a $350 (per person) administrative fee and any non-refundable paid fees (e.g. non-refundable airfare, cruise or hotel deposits). 60-89 days will be subject to loss of deposit. 30-59 days will be subject to loss of 50% of program price. 29 days or less will be subject to 100% of program price.
