Tswalu Kalahari is South Africa’s largest private game reserve, covering an area of over 100,000 hectares. Owned by the Oppenheimer family, Tswalu takes conservation as its absolute priority; their vision is simply ‘to restore the Kalahari to itself’. No more than thirty guests at a time can discover the beauty of this landscape, its diverse wildlife, and the serenity of what may well be South Africa’s last great wilderness. From here you'll fly to Cape Twon and have private guided tour of the top sights including the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, Cape Point, Simon's Town and the African penguins at Boulders Beach. Nestled between Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean and famous for its beaches, this is a cosmopolitan city with superb cuisine and world class vineyards only an hour's drive away.

Day 2
Kalahari The Kalahari Desert is a large arid to semi-arid sandy area in Southern Africa extending 900,000 square kilometres covering much of Botswana and parts of Namibia and South Africa, as semi-desert, with huge tracts of excellent grazing after good rains. The only permanent river, the Okavango, flows into a delta in the northwest, forming marshes that are rich in wildlife. Previously havens for wild animals from elephant to giraffe, and for predators such as lion and cheetah, the riverbeds are now mostly grazing spots, though leopard or cheetah can still be found. Take your flight at 1:00pm from Johannesburg (JNB) to Tswalu today. The flight duration is approximately 1.5hrs. Fly in Pilates PC12, exclusive pressurised private aircraft. Upon arrival into Tswalu you will meet up with the guides to go over all available activities and to customize your stay in the Kalahari. We believe that the day’s activities should be created around your individual desires. A personal consultation on arrival ensures that we understand exactly what you want to do. Today enjoy time at leisure or head out on one of Tswalu's exceptional activities. For anyone with a particular passion, special talks can be arranged with the reserve’s ecologists. Photographers will find unending possibilities here at Tswalu, combining shots of unique wildlife with dazzling panoramas. Walks to ancient archaeological sites will reveal rock carvings created by the Bushmen up to 380,000 years ago, some of the oldest art on Earth. Enjoy a day or just a few hours on horseback where you can enjoy game viewing and sundowners. Children’s activities are also available for families on-site. Speak to the lodge about adding a Hot Air balloon ride or to sign up for soothing and revitalising treatments at the exclusive Sanctuary spa. Sometimes the most exhilarating activity is no activity at all. Here at Tswalu the pools or shaded salas beckon; watch in silence as the sun slips below an endless horizon. Tswalu Kalahari takes its place as part of the Diamond Route which links together all the conservation initiatives of De Beers and the Oppenheimer family. The main property, the Motse, nestles at the foot of the Korannaberg mountains, facing westwards across the grasslands of the Kalahari. Motse means “village” in Tswana and our village consists of just eight spacious and secluded “legae” (another Tswana word, for “little house”) or suites. Overnight at Tswalu Kalahari. |

Day 5
Kalahari From horseback, the world of the Kalahari changes. On a horse safari in Africa, you become part of the landscape; its silence and vastness strike you all the more. Many of the animals react differently to your presence. No-one who experiences this kind of closeness with wildlife ever forgets it. Our African horseback safaris take place across grassy plains and rolling Kalahari dunes with spectacular views across the desert. The Korannaberg mountains, pink and mauve in the late afternoon sun, provide the backdrop. Horses meet the needs of absolute beginner to advanced equestrian alike. Both trail and English saddles are available. Every piece of necessary equipment is provided, in every imaginable size.
