Itinerary

Day 1 Cape Town

Cape Town is the second most populous city in South Africa, famous for its harbour as well as its natural setting in the Cape floral kingdom, including such well-known landmarks as Table Mountain and Cape Point. Popular day activities include; Robben Island (Nelson Mandela's prison), Cape Point, Stellenbosch winery tour, diamond buying shops, and great white shark diving.

Upon arrival into South Africa you will be met at the door of the plane and escorted through Customs and Immigration avoiding any queues. You will also receive all of your necessary documents for your trip which contains a detailed personalized itinerary, maps, restaurant suggestions, top tips for exploring each city or region and a 24 hour concierge service (for restaurant reservations, spa treatments, child minders, day tours etc.)

Enjoy a private transfer between the airport and your hotel.

A Dutch colonial allure shades the Welgelegen Guest House, a quaint but sleek city haven. Shielded by leafy canopies and placed in a quiet neighborhood of Cape Town, the hotel offers two Victorian houses with a total of 12 rooms. High quality bath products, dressing gowns and crisp white linen are just few of the pleasant features that make a stay at Welgelegen enjoyable. Meals may be taken in the dining room, or outdoors with Table Mountain as a backdrop. Also visit popular restaurants in the area, which are just in walking distance. Plan a daytrip and visit Cape Point, or the Kirstenbosch Gardens. Otherwise, simply wander around the city of Cape Town.

Day 2 Cape Town

This morning you will be met by your guide and coach for a morning exploration of the Cape Town, known affectionately as the Mother City. Your tour will take in the Houses of Parliament, the Castle of Good Hope (built between 1666 and 1679, this is South Africa’s oldest building), lively Greenmarket Square with its daily market, the Company Gardens and of course Table Mountain which will give you spectacular views over the city and Peninsula (cable car fee is not included as it is weather dependent). On our descent, we stop at the Bo Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses. You will have the choice of being dropped off at the Waterfront to experience this vibrant location at your own pace, with its many shops, restaurants and pubs or at your hotel at the end of the tour.

Day 3 Cape Town

Today you'll join a small group (max of 12) to embark on a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. We take in the beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay, before crossing over to Hout Bay, where you may choose to join an optional boat cruise to Seal Island. From here we drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve via Chapman’s Peak, one of the world’s most breathtaking coastal drives, where you will board a funicular to the top of the Peninsula to witness the symbolic meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans as well as have spectacular views over False Bay. We enjoy lunch near here (not included – own account) before continuing to Simonstown, the naval base, and visiting the African Penguin breeding colony at Boulders Beach. En route back we stop at the world renowned Kirstenbosch Gardens before returning back to your hotel.

Day 4 Kruger

Kruger National Park was established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, and is nearly 2 million hectares. It is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man's interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela - is very evident in the Kruger National Park.

This afternoon you'll meet up with others at the lodge and embark on your afternoon game drive. Sunrise and sunset are when the animals are most active. Capture the spirit of a classical African safari at Imbali Safari Lodge, set in its own 10 000 hectare private concession area of the world famous Kruger National Park. The lodge has been carefully designed and built in keeping with eco-sensitive policies, to ensure that there is little impact on the natural environment, as guests will bear witness to artefacts discovered during the building programme.

Day 5 Kruger

Before first light you'll meet up with others at the lodge and embark on your early morning game drive. Sunrise and sunset are when the animals are most active. You'll be out in the reserve for a few hours before returning back to the lodge for breakfast. A private vehicle can be booked at an additional cost depending on availability.

After lunch you may wish to stay at camp and siesta instead of continuing on with the game viewing drive into the afternoon. Although the heat minimises animal movement it is always worth going on a game viewing drive after lunch. Sometimes it's nice to park up at a waterhole and wait patiently to see what animals come to drink. You never know what you might see! Late afternoon is another productive time for game viewing as the day starts to cool down ensuring further animal movement.

Day 6 Kruger

One of the more productive times to enjoy game viewing is first thing in the morning before the heat of the day kicks in. After a few hours of early morning game viewing, you will head back to your lodge for breakfast.

The free day will provide additional opportunities to enjoy the game viewing, including a “sun downer” and another evening game drive, sign up for additional activities or simply relax.
