The Central African Republic is in fact at the geographic center of Africa, bordered by Cameroon to the west, Chad to the north, Sudan to the east, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Republic of the Congo to the south. Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park is on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There are pygmy settlements in the rainforests surrounding Mbaiki. Due to massive political unrest in the Central African Republic and wild rebel activity over many areas, travel to this country is strongly discouraged.
