It was probably the best trip I've been on in terms of how smoothly everything went and how wonderful those riads that you put us in were! Every one of them was a surprise, so unique, so welcoming, so charming and so Moroccan - wouldn't have wanted it any other way - truly! Our guide, Magit, and our driver, Mohamed, made our trip so personal and I really have to tell you those two made the most excellent team. Africa - "I've returned from my trip to Marrakech and Atlas Mountains and I couldn't be more pleased with the experience. My guide and driver in Marrakech were prompt, professional and informative. My guide Hassan was excellent--he knew his Moroccan history and culture and I felt I learned a great deal from hm. He even went the extra mile to take me to a boosktore where I could buy some books by Moroccan authors. In addition, the hotel La Maison Arabe was excellent--from the room to the food to the staff. First rate! But the real highlight for me was going to the Kasbah du Toubkal. It was a great facility in a stunning location. I hope to return there one day. Like my guide in Marrakech, my mountain hiking guides Hussein and Mohammed were terrific. Walking with them through isolated Berber villages was a fabulous experience. Europe - Central & East - "I enjoyed a 6-day tour of Istanbul and Cappadocia. The airport pickups were precise and the daily tour pickups were as well. Although all my tour guides spoke English, none of the other tourists were American like me or British. They were variously from Pakistan, Iran, Germany, Belgium, Malaysia, Singapore etc. Turkey is clearly the most Western Moslem country (local beer is widely advertised and they are proud of their local wines in Cappadocia). Europe - Central & East - "It has been too long since our return from Poland and the Czech Republic. Matthew wonderfully put together a personal package for my mother and the 3 daughters. We only gave him 2 weeks prior to our departure time to find a driver, book hotels on our behalf, plan walking tours and sightseeing etc. It was a last minute decision, with not a lot of time available to either our family or Kensington Tours and Matthew to assist us. Amazingly, he did not hesitate, assisted in making all the arrangements despite the unrealistic expectation of only 2 weeks notice. We thank Matthew and Kensington Tours for making my mothers 1st return trip home since she left in World War 2 - the most spectacular and incredible occaision in her life. We found that they were not as forthcoming as we would have liked and therefore we had to ask many questions to get more out of them. They were however very pleasant and patient. Central America - "Overall the sales service and planning support from Andrea was excellent, which made the pre-trip experience very convenient. As a busy professional, I appreciate the organized approach that Kensington took to help me plan my trip. Andrea especially was very diligent in her efforts to stay in touch with me and keep me on track with vacation planning and booking, providing good information, working with my preferences, and giving me options. Our airport driver was easy to spot outside the airport, was a good conversationalist throughout our 3 hour trip to Arenal sharing a lot information about what we were seeing, and answered a lot of our questions. We thought that the guide at Arenal Nat'l Park was good, very well informed. Gerald shared a lot of historical information about the surrounding area, the volcano itself, geography, plants, and was a good spotter of monkeys and birds. Gerard also went out of his way to show us the thermal pools at the Springs Resort, which otherwise we wouldn't have found on our own. All of the drivers booked during our trip were very courteous and tried their best to share with us information about what we were seeing along the road. Some of the highlights were Beijing (forbidden city, summer palace, military presence, Tiannamen square), X'ian (terra cotta soldiers), the countryside - Banyan Tree Resort was wonderful - we did the bbq ensuite - which was a great experience. Africa - "In reference to the safari taken during December by Flint Dahlquist, April Dahlquist and I, Iona Clark, was in all respects satisfying and greatly enjoyed. The tent, the food, the friendliness of the waiters, the cleanliness – all were excellent. But, what made the experience really wonderful were seeing the nine or ten lions in formation for hunting and killing a warthog family and Mr. Godfrey. What a guide! Europe - Central & East - " I spoke with our clients Grace Sampang and Reema Bakshi yesterday. They had a marvelous time. They thought the guides were very knowledgeable and well informed. They went out of their way to give them information about the sights they were seeing. The hotels were great - they especially liked the Bodrum Marmara! It was especially helpful that they could leave "extra" luggage at their final hotel. The trip was more than they had anticipated - a step back in time, dazzling structures and amazing sights to see. They felt they had seen the highlights that Turkey has to offer and loved each stop. Each stop had so much to offer and the guides give them lots of history and background for the places they were seeing. They wished that they could have had forms to fill out to rate each stop and the guides there - only one stop offered that. While most people do not like to fill out forms, these two young ladies would do so. Found the people very friendly and helpful, they felt quite safe, the shopping OUTSTANDING!! - and the food was very good. Reema is a vegetarian and was quite pleased with the food she had. Asia - "John and I have returned safe and sound from Cambodia. What a fabulous experience! The guides were always on time or early, took us to any place we wanted to go (top quality local artists shops and local market). Our guide in Phnom Penh was exceptional. His english was great and his warm hospitality was wonderful. He also shared his own personal stories about growing up during the Khmer Rouge regeim when I asked. It was so moving and emotional to me I will always cherish what he told us and never forget S-21. Lim also treated us to the local cuisine during our trip to Udong Hill, it was fantastic and John and I are still talking about it! Our guide in Siem Reap was just as wonderful. His incredibly vast knowledge of all the temples we visited was astonishing. He also avoided the huge crowds by going the back routes to Angkor Thom and brought us to the most beautiful, low tourist temples out in the country. Africa - "Christine and Gabby were extremely helpful and patient answering many questions. They were so personable and I appreciate their first hand knowledge of the area. I have already told many people that if they go to Africa, they definitely need to go with Kensington. Before I knew how great everyone was, what sold me on your company was being able to set our own dates and have just my son & I, not being paired with others, as well as a very reasonable price. Godfrey, our guide was a 20 year veteran, and it showed. He knew exactly the best areas to see the animals and gave us so much interesting information on all the animals. We went to Samburu, Sweetwater Ranch, Lake Nakuru and Navaisha and Masai Mara. All were different and spectacular. We saw so many animals. Six days of games drives (and pot holes!!) was just right for us._ The Kensington Mara West in Masai Mara was incredible. The view at sunrise over the Mara was spectacular, & I loved listening to the zebras munching their way around our "tent" (What a tent) at night. The food at Mara west was spectacular and the staff so hospitable. Rose is amazing. I enjoyed having all our accommodations surrounding open areas to see the animals. Naivasha lodge at sunset with the giraffe parade was amazing, as well as the open area at Sweetwaters Serena. I was very disappointed in the community shops. They had beautiful things, but so expensive. In the USA, we try not to shop at hotels and airports, because they are alway more expensive than area markets. It appeared to be just the opposite in Kenya. I would like to have supported the community shops along the way, but after the first day, I bought at the hotels because of the large price discrepancy. I would do the trip again in a heartbeat. Our trip was the first week of November, which seemed a great time - no crowds, occasional light rains, everything greening up, lots of baby animals, perfect temperatures. " Joslyn Causey, 2009
